Terms of service
Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version
- OnlyMech helps you understand car problems and find parts. It gives information, not professional repair or safety advice, and its answers can be wrong.
- For anything safety-critical (brakes, steering, tyres, suspension, airbags, fuel or electrical systems), have the vehicle checked by a qualified mechanic before driving it.
- You are responsible for the repairs you carry out or authorise, and for checking that a part fits before you buy it.
- Our liability is limited, as far as the law allows. Your rights as a consumer under the law where you live are not affected.
These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and 18289573 Canada Inc., operating as OnlyMech (“OnlyMech”, “we”, “us”), for your use of the OnlyMech website, apps and services (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you use OnlyMech for a business, you confirm you can accept these terms on its behalf, and “you” includes that business.
Who can use OnlyMech
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Give accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account; tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
What OnlyMech is, and isn’t
OnlyMech is an information tool. It uses the details you give it and automated analysis, including artificial intelligence, to suggest likely causes of a vehicle problem, checks to try, and parts that may fit. It does not inspect your vehicle, and it is not a mechanic, a repair shop or a substitute for one.
Answers can be incomplete or wrong, for example if a description, photo or recording is unclear, if a vehicle has been modified, or if a fault has more than one cause. Treat every answer as a suggestion to consider, not a guarantee.
Never rely on OnlyMech alone for anything that affects safety. If a warning light, noise, smell, leak or change in how the vehicle drives could affect brakes, steering, tyres, suspension, airbags, fuel or electrical systems, stop driving and have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic. In an emergency, contact emergency services.
Your repairs are your responsibility
- You decide whether to follow a suggestion, carry out a repair, or ask a professional. Any work you do yourself is at your own risk.
- Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions and specifications, use the right tools and safety equipment, and never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Some repairs must be done by a licensed technician or comply with local laws and inspection rules. It is your responsibility to know and follow them.
- Do not use OnlyMech while driving.
Parts, prices and third parties
Part numbers, fitment information and any prices come from third-party catalogues and sources. We work to keep them accurate, but we can’t guarantee them. Confirm with the seller or the vehicle manufacturer that a part fits your exact vehicle before you buy or fit it.
Garages, parts sellers and other businesses you find or deal with through OnlyMech are independent of us. Your dealings with them, including payments, warranties and the quality of their work, are between you and them.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you upload or write: descriptions, photos, videos, recordings and documents (“your content”). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, copy and display your content only to provide, secure and improve the service, including sending it to our service providers as described in the Privacy policy. This licence ends when you delete your content or account, except for copies we must keep by law or in backups until they expire.
You confirm you have the right to share your content and that it doesn’t break anyone else’s rights. Don’t upload other people’s personal information (for example faces or licence plates) unless it’s needed and you have their permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or help anyone else do so, including tampering with emissions or safety systems;
- upload anything unlawful, harmful, misleading, or that you don’t have the right to share;
- try to access accounts or data that aren’t yours, or disrupt, probe or overload the service;
- copy, scrape, resell or build a competing product from the service or its answers, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
- use the service to give paid professional advice to others while presenting OnlyMech’s answers as your own professional judgment.
Garage and team accounts
If you open a garage account, you control who joins it and what they can see, and you are responsible for your team’s use of OnlyMech. You are responsible for having the right to add your customers’ vehicle information and for telling them, as your privacy obligations require, that you use OnlyMech. Your technicians’ use of OnlyMech does not change your responsibility for the work your business carries out.
Fees
OnlyMech is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the price and terms before you’re charged, and you choose whether to subscribe. Prices exclude applicable taxes unless stated.
Our service and intellectual property
OnlyMech, including its software, design, content and brand, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms. Feedback you send us may be used to improve OnlyMech without any obligation to you.
We may change, add or remove features. We aim to keep OnlyMech available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
Closing your account
You can stop using OnlyMech and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk or creates legal risk for us. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your information. The sections on information only, your responsibilities, liability, indemnity and disputes continue after an account closes.
No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that answers will be correct, complete or suitable for your vehicle, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or business, arising from your use of the service, even if we were told they were possible.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage to vehicles or property, or for injury, resulting from repairs or decisions you or others make, including relying on an answer without having a safety-critical issue checked by a qualified mechanic.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or removes rights you have as a consumer under the law of the province, territory or country where you live.
Indemnity
You agree to compensate us for claims, losses and reasonable legal costs brought by others that arise from your breach of these terms, your content, or repairs you carry out or authorise, except to the extent caused by our own fault. For consumers, this applies only as far as the law where you live allows.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you have a concern, contact us first and we will try to resolve it informally. If we can’t, the courts of Alberta, sitting in Calgary, will hear the dispute, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes or the law requires. For significant changes we will tell you at least 30 days before they take effect, by email or in the app. If you keep using OnlyMech after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can close your account.
General
These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a business that takes over OnlyMech.
